The Museo Diocesano of Catania is housed in the Palazzo del Seminario dei Chierici, adjacent to the Cathedral of Sant’Agata (il Duomo). From the museum you can access the terrace of the Palazzo del Seminario dei Chierici and Porta Uzeda, where you can admire two wonderful views. On the one hand the spectacle that is the Duomo square, with the Elephant Fountain (la Fontana dell’Elefante) and the via Etnea with Mount Etna in the background. On the other hand the walls of Carlo V, the port of Catania with the ‘Archi della Marina’ and lastly the Castello Ursino. Also from the museum you can access the beautiful complex of the underground Terme Achelliane, a journey into the bowels of the city, where the river Amenano flows on the surface, in the nearby Fontana dell’Amenano in the square outside.
